Pattern ruler buying guide
For patchwork: start with a clear square ruler and a long ruler for strips. Add a specialty triangle, Dresden or star-and-geese ruler when your pattern calls for that shape.
For garment patterns: a French curve shapes necklines and hems, an armhole curve refines armholes and a hip curve follows longer seams. A pattern master or grading triangle helps scale sizes accurately.
For precision: keep the ruler flat, use a sharp marking tool and check the grid before cutting. Metric and imperial measurements should not be mixed within the same step.
